The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable – Repair

Sometime due to mishandling of Hard Drive or other scenarios, data is unreadable.

Using CHKDSK command can help in fixing these kind of issues.

Run Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

Lets do it….

Provide your Administrator password

This is your Command Prompt

Type chkdsk followed by drive letter that you want to check, and : /f

/f switch will try to fix errors in location.

Suppose i want to check D drive for errors, so the complete command will be chkdsk d: /f

It will take some time depending upon directory structure, size and data. Just wait for further message.

If above mentioned command did not worked, then need to try with /r switch.

Type chkdsk followed by drive letter that you want to check, and : /r

/r switch will try to repair bad sector errors in location.

Suppose i want to check D drive for errors, so the complete command will be chkdsk d: /r

It will take more time as compared to previous switch, because it will check error that are at sector level. depending upon directory structure, size and data. Just wait for further message.

All the best for your data……

Just do not rely on keeping data at one place, make some backup options, eternal drives, online storage, clouds etc.
